Every child comes in this world with burden of expectations and sometimes incomplete dreams of their parents. Before children grow and understand about their visions and dreams and start doing anything material towards it, their parents want them to stand out from peers. Time is really getting tough and no parents want their child to lag behind in this competitive world. Well, to make them stand out, parents do multiple things and end up getting no concrete results. Most often their technique of teaching/explaining is not aligning with long term results. The learning or values parents instill in them should be unique, customized and beyond conventional teaching or training. We have enlisted few values every parents should teach/explain to their children for effective growth and long term success.

Patience

Patience is the key to success. Having patience is the unique characteristic which is common among every successful person. Most of the parents who are not patient and enduring themselves can’t teach their children how to behave when all odds come up. They should teach how to tackle the situation which may arise during easy going course and how to remain sane and find out the way out of it. Help children learn to control their impulses and delay gratification. If you take example of billionaires, almost everyone had have hard time during their early lives when they were trying to come with something amazing. They all kept patience and kept doing they wanted to achieve.

Long term vision

Short term happiness or enjoyment can be lethal when you can’t see the way ahead of you. The longer the clear vision, the safer your journey will be. Short term gains are temporary and they may not be there during the worst time of your life. Whether you pick up a stock to invest or life partner to live your entire life with, always think about the consequences. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Every amazing thing takes time. Focusing something which is fundamentally robust for longer period deliver you astonishing results. Parents should take part in decision making of their children’s career while keeping long term vision in mind.

Rising from Failures/Resilience

Failure is the part of life. When your child fails some random test taken in school, understand their situations rather than scolding them like there is no tomorrow. Forcing your child to succeed in every field of life would be the worst thing parents can do. Teach them ‘how to analyze the failures and learn from them’. Teach them how to do better while keeping weaknesses in mind. Comparing child’s ability with your joneses is again the absurd thing parents do. Your child is unique and his life story is going to be unique. Let them be mentally strong because this is what a person should have in this stressful era.

Communication skill

To survive in the age of this throat cut competition, one special skill that can give your child a competitive edge is great communication skill. Social skill is important part in the business segment as well as in the love life. The way you communicate with people gives you a special space in their mind. Lending a good job, grabbing attention of boys/girls or managing a business would be lame without your proper delivery of speech. Parents have to make sure what their child read and speak. Help them to structure proper sentences and get them into the habit of vocabulary improvement.

Money wisdom

The world is driven by money. Teach your child how money is important in life and how to manage it. Parents get into the dilemma when their children don’t understand their financial situation and ask for the gadgets their friends are owning. Reveal everything about your financial position to them. Besides, managing the money is the greatest skill one can learn and teach. Parents should teach them how to save and invest money to make even more, where to spend money and where not to. You can teach them at small scale by providing them fix budget for expenses. You can teach them about financial products, their benefits and risks as well when they attain certain age and start understanding things. Don’t show scarcity to your child even if you are financially healthy. Instead teach them why certain things should not be bought and why understanding value for money is important.

Risk taking ability

Risk is something that always remain with you like a shadow. Life is uncertain. The real risk is not taking any risk. Teach them how to take bold but calculated risks. Jumping down from ladder is not the kind of risk you want to teach. Teach them about values they can have by taking particular risk.

Technological knowledge

Giving away your mobile to your child is not the cool way to teach them about technology. The world is moving at faster rate accelerated by innovation in technology. Make them aware about every essential thing of technology while making them understand the negative side of it. Have internet in your home and teach them how to self learn different things on internet. Let them play games while imposing restrictions and time limit.

Humility, Integrity and Modesty

Teach the value of being humble and recognizing that everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Encourage modesty in accomplishments and the recognition of others' contributions. Instill the importance of being truthful and having strong moral principles. Parents should lead by example, showing why integrity is so important in daily life.

Versatile learning

Besides giving them education, show them good movies and TV shows. Let them play mind sports and games. The way to make your children smart is encouraging them to read good books besides syllabus books. Talk to them about your work, businesses and your past struggles. Let them choose their interests. Teach them how to survive when basic needs like food, internet, shelter or water is not available easily.

Love and respect

Love is something that can’t be controlled or taught. It is the special gift everyone is looking for. Give them immense love. Encourage the act of kindness and consideration. Teach them how to respect something whether it is work or people. When they grow to teenage, explain them how the love is different from attractions. Love failures are rampant now a days especially at the age from 15 to 25 leading to depression and suicides. Let them do the way they like but be cushions when they fall apart.
